Annotated Schedule Drawings

Now in ArchiCAD 13 door and window previews can be associatively annotated right in the interactive schedule window.

·    Dramatically increased documentation productivity

·    No need for tedious manual dimensioning of door-window schedules

·    Automatic change management: No need for manual revision of schedules when the project is changed

·    More precise list criteria allows users to filter the elements to be listed

·    More flexibility in customizing IS output

Oriented Views

Rotating editing views allow diagonal wings to be edited perpendicular while annotation can be adjusted to the final layout orientation.

·    Comfortable work environment for projects using odd angles.

·    Increased documentation productivity due to automatically adjusted annotation elements.

·    Easier overview of complex floor plan layouts in view sets saved with different orientations.

·    Intelligent handling of annotation between rotated/non-rotated view

“Soft” Insulation

ArchiCAD 13’s soft insulation is not just the 100% solution for 2D but it is available in 3D Documents as well.

·    There is no need for time consuming workarounds to add symbolic soft insulation to your composite walls

·    In those countries where soft insulation is standard this feature itself can boost the productivity of architectural documentation

·    Quality of 2D drawings dramatically increased

·    Implemented on a 3D basis (works in 3D documents as well)

Object Handling

Global model view options help control the display and handling of library objects at a project level. Project specific library parts can now be saved into the standard ArchiCAD project file.

·    No more “missing libraries”

·    Increased project data safety by keeping the custom library parts in the ArchiCAD project file

·    There is no need to create and manage custom object folders for every project

·    Easier project upgrade when switching to a new ArchiCAD version

·    Project level control of object display

·    The complexity of library parts can now be set according to the actual model view option. This can result in smaller 3D models and faster model regeneration in case there is no need to show the object in full detail.

·    The number of library parts in a project can be reduced since one library part can now be displayed differently according to the model view options.

DWG Enhancements

New features include improved layer management and exporting multiple layouts into a single DWG file.

·    Streamlined communication with engineers

·    Easier management of DWG output files

·    This function enables faster conversion speed and reduced file size when opening DWG files in ArchiCAD

·    Better control over layers during exporting ArchiCAD projects into DWG file format

·    Cleaner data after DWG import in ArchiCAD

·    It helps you avoid creating large numbers of unneeded layers in ArchiCAD.

Data Exchange with Engineers

ArchiCAD 13 supports the classification of architectural BIM elements as load bearing vs. non-load bearing structures for a better export to the structural engineer. Thousands of standard steel products are now available from within ArchiCAD 13.

·    Tailored data to be sent to engineers

·    Improved content sharing with Structural applications. Important structural properties of columns and beams are preserved during model export.

Curtain Wall Editing

The system geometry of highly integrated Curtain Wall systems introduced in ArchiCAD 12 now can be freely edited in any view of ArchiCAD 13. Curtain Wall reference lines can now be modified on floor plan with standard Pet-palette operations.

·    Consistent editing of ArchiCAD elements. The same editing techniques can be applied for curtain walls as for walls

·    User friendly editing for productivity increase

·    Curtain walls can be easily adjusted to the surrounding building elements even on the floor plan

Automatic Dimensions

In the latest version doors and windows can be dimensioned in more refined ways (e.g. dimensioning opening egresses etc.)

·    Refined setup options for automatic dimensioning

·    Full flexibility in automatically dimensioning openings

·    The Automatic Exterior Dimensioning function now gives you full flexibility in defining the Door and Window values you wish to dimension.

Slabs/Roofs

In ArchiCAD 13 the slant angle and material of slab/roof edges can be adjusted with complete freedom to match joining elements.

·    More “refined” model details to be created

·    No workarounds for creating “clean” 3D details

·    Less slab elements have to be used to model complex projects.

·    Slabs can be adjusted to match with various wall layouts

Dynamic “Fit in Window”

New view option in ArchiCAD 13 allows views dynamically update based upon actual content of the view.

·    During editing an overview of always the entire project is provided

·    Views can be predefined and placed onto layouts in advance

·    There is no need to revise the zoom factor when the view content is changed

“Find & Select”

Find & Select function is now extended with the option of using multiple values to single selection criteria.

·    Project elements can be found, selected and modified according to precise search criteria. This can be extremely useful in large and complex projects where large number of elements with little differences have to be selected.

·    Criteria sets can be saved and shared with other Teamwork users making the team of ArchiCAD users more productive.

“Ruler”

New editing aid gives instant, dynamic feedback on cursor’s vertical and horizontal position in ArchiCAD 13.

·    Industry standard features available in ArchiCAD

·    Productivity increase during editing and layouting

·

“Boundary” Contours

Display of element contour lines at the place where they are cut by the Section

·    Section/Elevation contours can be displayed according to architectural drafting standards.

·    Increased documentation productivity. There is no need to add manual line work to your section-elevation drawings.

OpenGL Display

Sharp contour lines and improved shading colors in 3D views using OpenGL

·    Better look and feel when working in 3D OpenGL views

·    Better quality output from 3D OpenGL views

Fill Enhancements

Image Fill as Cover Fill / Gradient Fill Enhancements

·    You don’t have to duplicate your zones as fills if you want to add image fills to your floor plans. This solution results in smaller file size and less drawing elements in the project.

·    There is no need to update fills manually in case the floor plan is changed. Zones containing image fills will be updated automatically.

·    Better documentation quality

·    Accurate output

License Borrowing

With this technology users can borrow a license with a single click from the ArchiCAD interface, and return it before it expires so that other users can access it

·    License borrowing allows firms with network AC licenses to best use their free licenses

·    The risk of loosing physical key plugs can be minimized

64-bit on Windows

As the natural next step after the introduction of multi-processor support in ArchiCAD 12 now the latest version of ArchiCAD ships on Windows with native 64-bit support.

·    More stability of operations with large projects

·    No theoretical limit of project size (in practice increasing project size and complexity beyond a certain limit may be counter productive)

·    Performance problems in ArchiCAD related to lack of Physical memory are eliminated.

·    ArchiCAD can handle significantly larger models in one file. There is no need to divide a project into smaller parts because of memory limitations. However dividing a large project into smaller parts is still a good practice if you want to reduce the regeneration time of the 3D model or the documentation.
